Nissenken and Textiles Committee (Govt. of India, Ministry of Textiles) agreed to improve textile product quality and promote trade

On January 27, 2021, Nissenken Quality Evaluation Center (headquartered in Taito-ku, Tokyo, President: Nobuhiro Komada) and the Textiles Committee (headquartered in Mumbai, Secretary: Ajit B. Chavan) Government of India, Ministry of Textiles signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for improving the quality of textile products and promoting the trade between India and Japan.
During the global COVID-19 pandemic, Japan and India were connected through a web conference system. The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Yasumasa Nagasaka, Hon’ble State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, from the Japanese side and Mrs. Smriti Zubin Irani, Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, from the Indian side.

Collaboration to improve the quality of textile products in both Japan and India
Since its establishment of Jaipur laboratory in India in 2014, Nissenken has built relationship of trust with India’s textile-related industries and major industry associations and has contributed to improving the quality of its products for exporting to Japan.
In 2019, the achievement was recognized and we received a letter of recognition from the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
Textiles Committee of India, which is responsible for the National Textile Policy
Textile Committee is a National textile evaluation organization under the jurisdiction of the Government of India, Ministry of Textiles. It has approximately 25 laboratories in India. It is a government agency that plays a central role in India’s textile industry including the development of laws and regulations, testing of imports into India, protection of the traditional textile industry and promotion of the textile industry.
Consistent with the industrial policies of the Government of Japan and India
On 10th of December, 2019, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry of Government of India (MoCI), Mr. Piyush Goyal, and Hon’ble Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Government of Japan, Mr. Hiroshi Kajiyama, had a meeting in Delhi, and decided to launch “India-Japan Industrial Competitiveness Partnership (IJICP)”. Under the IJICP, MoCI and METI will jointly work toward enhancing India’s industrial competitiveness. As indicated by the attendance at the Japan-India ministerial-level signing ceremony, the attention and expectations of the Government of Japan and India are high, and the future trend of textile products in Japan and India will be at the center of attention.
We will further strengthen our efforts to contribute to the quality of the textile and related industries in India.
